"Pinpoint the illusion of ecstasy, I hear your thoughts, i foresee, Thomas." These are the words that came into my head one day as i sat outside in my garden. I ran inside and grabbed the pen, and the poem Tynewald came rushing into the river of my brain. I did some research and Thomas Grubb was the only man named Thomas serving on a packet ship used for tourism but which took part in Operation Dynamo in the second world war. I am in awe of how the universe communicates. The ship tynewald picked up dying men from the water off Dunkirk, and went back 7 times until the crew were too weary to stand up. They saved hundreds of men.
TYNEWALD
This IS the darkest time,
This IS the darkest day,
When men fell,
When women pray;
THIS is the darkest time,
THIS is the darkest day,
When unlived eyes close,
When unborn stillness pause,
The breath;
Changing particles of grey,
To hastened Death.
This is THE darkest time,
This is THE darkest day.
