Two Steps Back . . .

Plant me deep
stomp on this slumbering earth
bleed moonlight in measured increments
starve me for sunlight and
you
smite all possibility of growth from this deprived soil

~~~~~~
          Close your heart
          and
          hear with your head
          what the music sings to your dead bones
~~~~~~

                      Imagine humid earth dormant
                            rested
                                vacant
                                     starved
                      begging your strength

~~~~~~~
                                     Restless me
                                     running free
                                     lost and asleep
                                     dreaming
                                     of screaming
