Two Pairs of Shoes

Two pairs of shoes beside the bed.
Mine are tiny, his large instead.

His are steel toed, sandals are mine.
His dull and dark, but mine have shine.

Opposites yes, just like our shoes.
When I'm happy, he has the blues.

My secret to brighten his mood...
A large rare steak, his kind of food.

I like the soaps, he likes the news.
When I watch mine, he takes a snooze.

I can't stand to see people die...
Watching his news just makes me cry.

Even though, we might have a fight
Love keeps us together all night.

And each night when we go to sleep.
Two pairs of shoes, company keep!

Hi Connie, this is such a beautiful little gem that has flowed from the nib of your golden pen. Emotions put so simply and yet they paint such strong visions. You have written from the heart and your words touch the heart of the reader. Has to be a fave. Love the content. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Hugs....Mike. XX

This is so touching Connie. It's amazing the sentimental value shoes hold and your talent to give them 'life' is just beautiful. Congratulations on the POTD honour, so deserving.

Thank you very much Paul. I guess I live totally outside the box Paul, as I once wrote a poem about my toe that won first place. I appreciate that others are enjoying this simple little poem that I have kind of turned into a love story. ; )
