Two Nations, One Decision
8/1/12
Another collab with my history fanatic friend, Justin Connor =)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two nations, the United States and the Soviet Union
Both very powerful,
Now hold the fate of the world at stake
Attempts to overpower the other
Only bring fear and trouble the hearts of the people
Threat by threat and nuclear bombs
Stirred up adrenaline and false alarms
Will our lack of unity save the world?
Or will it merely produce tension?
Once allies in a conflict that involved the world
Now fighting each other with words instead of weapons
One wrong move from either
Could be the next world predicament
And if nothing is done
More tension will surely arise
Liking a quiet bomb ticking away
Is the great nations’ cruel silent treatment
But no one is keeping it low
Everyone knows and fears what lies ahead
So who will be the winner—the great?
The red, white and blue, or simply the red?
Or will Cuba set up a missile tow?
To shock the Americans into panic
And rush the Russians back into the snow?
Now one nation in the Caribbean
Will be the center of attention
The two superpowers now increase tension
Their decisions will decide how the world looks tomorrow
As the scare smears their eyes with wars of sorrow
How long will the world fight over naught?
It is about time to stop the nonsense
Not two nations, but two leaders decide to make a deal
And realize that it is better to have peace
Than to rain fire on the world
We realize there is enough turmoil to go around
And for now we can all take a deep breath in again
But paranoia and tension take years to heal
And when we decide to breathe out again,
We must expect anything
