Two Lives
There is supposed to be a partnership
Not just friendly companionship
Two people become one entity
Not physically but mentally
A relationship or marriage isn’t ever fifty fifty
No need for a meeting or committee
One maybe extra tired
And the other does as required
The next day roles may reverse
But you work together and diverse
One may be injured or have the flu
The next week the foot maybe on the other shoe
This swings in roundabouts
Never any resentment or doubts
One is the doer and one is the taker
If your the taker don’t be the breaker
You shouldn’t feel guilt for being unwell
Don’t be the one to scream and yell
If this is a long sickness
Remember it’s both your business
One maybe giving up their sanity
To prevent a calamity
Communication is the key to success
Instead you dampen any progress
Now is not the time to feel independent
And treat everyone else like they’re unpleasant
Your own words can prevent frustration
Instead of worsening the situation
Talking to prevent resentment
Instead filling with disappointment
It’s living two separate life’s
For now it has to suffice
