Two Hearts, One Family

The door slammed shut between us,
words we hurled still echo,
your empty chair haunts dinner,
I replay that night alone,
pride kept both our voices silent.

I remember your hands teaching mine
how to tie my shoelace,
you carried me on tired shoulders,
now I carry this silence,
missing the man who raised me.

Sundays once meant your laughter,
now they mean an empty phone,
I dial your number then hesitate,
sorry feels too small now,
but I am ready finally.

Come back Dad, I am waiting,
let us rebuild what we broke,
your son still needs his father,
two hearts too stubborn to bend,
let's be one family again.
