Notes About The Poem

Help make this Fall's time change more than it is.

Two a M

Two A.M.

Two A.M. has come and gone
We no longer save the day
That says more than I'd like to think
Of the things we do and say

If only we could turn back time
To a past civility
When we mattered to each other
Chose our words more carefully

When Washington was there for us
Not the other way around
When parties were to celebrate
And we were on more solid ground

Let the changing of the time
Begin a changing time of note
Think of these words I've written
When you're casting Tuesday's vote

Don't dwell on either party
When you're at the polls to cast
Choose ones who love this country
Help drive division to the past

And if it's necessary
Change your life to do the same
Consider “We the People”
And not only just in name

Just in case you had forgotten
Last night before you went to bed
Don't wait a minute longer
To turn the clocks back, not ahead.
