Twixt Dream and Awake

Sol shines like a ball of flame
that's unbelievably bright.
And pierces sleepy eyelids
with His blazing beams of light.
Somewhere, twixt dream and awake,
reality jumps off track.
And Sol dabbles in abstract
on a field of darkest black.
Sleep slips out of fantasy,
witnessing the sun's rebirth.
And as time's held motionless;
Sol gilds the rim of the Earth.
Night retreats as Sol rises;
and the day starts to unwind.
But I'm forced to look away;
and picture Him in my mind.
