Twister

Behold the power of the wind,
twisting spiral force within,
crossing, it inhales the lake,
ancient oak trees snap and break.

Lofty trees crash to the ground.
amazingly, without a sound.
So sudden, this phenomenon,
in an instant, it was gone.

Stunned, in shock, we peered outside,
the yard, a twister's homicide.
Massive trees, both tall and thick,
centuries old, yet felled that quick.

Of course, the tree most heavy-set,
crushed and totaled my Corvette.
And though I'm glad no one was hurt,
(I know it could have been much worse),

I really loved that thoroughbred,
and wished it'd crushed the van instead.

Great write, Danielle, with a sad but humorous 'twist' at the end. Loved it. Wishing you a Happy New Year and hoping that all your special dreams come true in 2009. Love, Nigel
