Twinkling Heartbeats

When stars align in skies of love
               like twinkling heartbeats high above
I wonder those who’ve passed my way
Aligned in stars for just a day

So many heartbeats I have known
That cosmic winds have gently blown
Allowing us but just a wink
A brief alliance yet to think

Yet friends and lovers sparkle still
                        In memories command at will
I wonder if they think of me
When stars align once more to be

Ooooh, this is an amazing poem Mike. I have wondered the same thing. I'm sure those that you've been near remember you. I love your poems, and they affect us here on the soup, you surely affect those who know you or have met you personally in your life. This is precious, I really love it. I'm faving it!

Mike came across your poem & reading it felt like a hug, I recently lost my father, his sister & my landlord, so how ironic I came across your poem. It brought to mind an old Eskimo legend that begins, "Perhaps they are not stars, but rather the openings in the sky where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us .. My favorite and to me, the most beautiful line in your poem reads, "So many heartbeats I have known." This is so lovely and so moving.

Much enjoyed the flow and rhythm of your words, Mike. Your tribute to the heartbeats you have known no doubt resonates in their hearts as well.
