Twinkles Rising

Our nearest neighbor, planet Mars,
Stark and barren twinkles with night stars -

Earth watches from beside the lake.
Dawn awakens each slithering snake.

Life cycles repeat in rhythmic swells.
Rising tides and crushing seashells
