Twilight Vision

My eyes spotted a jet of pink poison,
As it filtered through the sky,
Soon seeping into a cancerous sun

I glimpsed opportunity’s fading shadow,
As it slowly suffocated
Behind a curtain of clouds

My frozen mind stood in awe,
As future thoughts suddenly took flight,
Leaving me naked,
Glued to failure

I stared as beauty wilted over the hill,
And became a thorny labyrinth,
Swallowing crippled dreams
Too weak to wander further

I then witnessed my soul
Crawling up from the ground
As it searched for scraps of meaning
Discarded by an old happiness,
But finding nothing.
