Twilight
So, where do we go from here?
The scattered toys are picked up. The broken dreams disposed of.
The tattered remnants of yesterday’s play carelessly litter the lawn.
The sound of laughter drew two children to clasp hands, their faces sunwards.
Now shadows swirl filled with creatures that both beckon and forbid.
We stand frozen.
Every direction leads to chaos, barreling in at full speed.
As darkness seeps through me, the cinch in my chest pulls tighter.
The tension reverberates through my being.
My taunt emotions pull hard at my mind, begging for the relief of implosion.
