Notes About The Poem

Decade changes are to confusing for me

Twenty-Twenty

Twenty-Twenty
By Franklin Price
01/01/2020

It now is twenty-twenty
Gone are the twenty-teens
With hog jowels and black-eyed peas
Maybe even pork and beans

Gone the second decade
Of Century twenty-one
Welcome in the roaring twenties
That Congress, early, has begun

There is some confusion
Of when the decade ends
There are two thoughts about it
To whom you're speaking, oft depends

I prefer the decade changes
With the change of digit ten
Others when the units change,
Another year yet to begin

In either case, no longer teens
They're over, done and through
Wishing you a Happy New Year
For 2020's what I do.
