Twelve Steps

Thinking of every sad song i ever heard Meloncholy waves displaying the heaviest words Knowing daylight will break the spell of my nightmares No hazy overtones to mask the putrid odor of clean air Feeling labor of tomorrow, i hide under covers I sacrificed the warmth of burning trees for a lover Selfishly, I apologized for those dark days of demons Cause guilt was eating me alive, like a sin So I journeyed to distant lands full of splendor With sad souls remembering last november We wasted a high for the lost days of peace time Instead, I was burning my friends with false lines With the weight of expectations, i sing Releasing cracked foundations of spring Those shallow graves we dug, filled with rain Summer skies whisper “we all feel the same” One more day tells the story of what we had lost With serenity, accepting what chaos has cost Courage to give us the strength to face the truth Hope for the future with stories of wasted youth
