Turning Away From God

TURNING AWAY FROM GOD

Looking at life through tear dimmed eyes
One surrenders their life to God
They are relieved from all their strife
To walk where angels trod

But over time things take place
Things they cannot explain
They stray from God and His marvelous grace
And start walking again in pain

What would cause such an unwise decision
After feeling God's peace and love
And return to a life of utter derision
Instead of blessings from above

Time may cause a stark realization
That cannot be ignored
And they will return to a life of salvation
Seeking comfort in God's Holy Word

It is perplexing when someone turns from darkness to sunshine then reverts back to darkness and the cycle goes on...So many things yet to understand I guess...Enjoyed your poem... All the best
