Turkeys: a Love Story

            Turkeys~A Love Story

Ah! Realizing his end was near,
Tom Turkey went out hunting for a little dear.
He found her, and a hot number, she!!
It was love at first sight, under a
gorgeous pine tree.

They studied God's heavens and the scented
tall pines.
"Hen turkey, you are mine....all mine."
Barely had he said these words,
when he realized into the woods they must hide.

Trembling under low bushes and trees, gobbling
softly, too.
Dreaming they'd be spared not end up turkey stew.

Two defenders of animal rights found the two, hiding.
"Fear not, we will save you from your end.
Come now, our truck is around this bend."

With gratitude and joy they followed.
Knowing on Thanksgiving they would not be killed,
cooked and by human teeth, gnarled.

They lived as pets for many years.
(Did you know turkeys loved to be
petted?)
Tom and Hen had many little ones, too.
Their progeny will not be eaten by
anyone. They are loved and cherished till
this very day.
By that loving couple who whisked their
parents...,,,,
fFrom death's door, safe, loved and away!
