Tunnelvision
All roads lead to paradise, but the difficulty
of my journey depends solely on me.
If I prefer to take a detour - a side trip, here and there,
I risk the interference of earthly Gods.
Erratic patterns of light appear, tiny flickers of light
that trickle down through the trees.
They come to me as "Notions"...
whimsical charms to entice me off the beaten path.
I succumb to some,
but decline a number far more,
yet each trip taken
bears me something
in a lesson learned.
Some - I grasped
right from the beginning,
others eluded me for centuries,
but ultimately,
I found that the goal was invariably the same -
to reach the final destination...
that bright, white, light
at the
end of the road..…
