Tumbling Refrain - 1

WINTER

The trees are heavy draped with snow,
the sky is white instead of blue;
mountains of snow hide the landscapes,
twittering birds have flown away.

The sky is white instead of blue,
and sun is hidden beneath clouds;
I miss the heat upon my face,
the warm feeling that embraces.

Mountains of snow hide the landscapes,
everything is stark and barren;
no squirrels searching, scampering,
I wake to a snowplows loud roar.

Twittering birds have flown away,
oh, how I miss their sweet morn' songs;
their wild flights here and there all day,
their dips, their resting on a branch.

Constance La France February 10, 2019 at 10:39 AM This form is called Retourne, it is an old French form, meaning to return. It is 14 lines or 4 verse unrhymed, or 4 quatrains, with rhyme. For this poem I used the unrhymed option. The line syllable count is 8. And lines 2, 3, 4 from the first verse are used as the tumbling refrains, in the first line of each following verse. I posted this under verse as I did not use the quatrain option. This may be my next contest.

This poem is beautiful and it paints a clear picture of a snowy day.
