Truthfully Told

Tell me what you see
and so it will be
I will believe
only if you say so

If you say I smiled today, I did
only if you say so

If you say I sounded gentle
then that is what I was
only if you say so

If you say the moment was warm, it stays warm
in my memory
only if you say so

If you say the light felt right
I stop questioning the dark
only if you say so

My thoughts blur at the edges of night
Will you be my sight?

Don’t mind me
I am learning not to see on my own
You are my eyes
So whatever you say
it becomes what I believe

because I stopped trusting my own eyes
to see what I truly desire
