Truth Wins Out

I like to think of myself as a truth-seeker Weighing all the angles, researching facts, Forming my opinions with loads of caution Succumbing to theories, I could never relax Lately, I’ve noticed an upsurge in paranoia Some people believing it’s all about over, While I run fast as I can from such hysteria. Preferring to bide my time, sane and sober Thinking minds always mull over information Consider the source, remember the rules Make good use of trusted reference sources, Being extremely mindful of various schools Of thought, and seek reliable resources “Someone said” is never sufficient, you see. Nor am I unduly impressed by cultural bias Leery about “Bible’s good enough for me!” Rational thought earns a prevailing wage, While running after foolishness tires me out I seldom will go along with the current rage And I don’t even pretend to have much clout Remembering in the end, the truth wins out!

The rational way is always the sound way. For example, I always consider all sides of an issue... Then I ask my gut: What do YOU think, and I go with my gut (98% of the time)... The 'catch' here is that my gut changes because of the aforementioned rational consideration. ~ This claim (and accompanying disclaimer) available in similar 'bureaucratese' in Polish, Tagalog, and Pig-Latin

Few can be bothered with research as, like lemmings, they prefer to play it safe and "fit in". Who would believe the whole world would sit by and watch Putin blow women and children to smithereens? Truth does not always win out . . . .Aloha!

Absolutely. I'm a strong proponent of inquiry and investigation. If we simply believe and acquiesce to what we hear, we can get into deep trouble with regard to our minds. Thanks, Bill.

Every time Milton, that old saying, if it's too good to be true it probably is. And supporting a false truth with lies becomes visible when you see cracks appear. Had a busy day yesterday putting up a garden shed, im stiff as a board this morning, oh to be twenty again. Lol. Tom

Oh, I hear you loudly and clearly, Tom. I'm stiff as a board walking to the sidewalk. I have a terrible time getting in and out of my car these days! I've always heard "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't," Tom. In any case, I carefully weigh before accepting almost everything I read and hear these days, and I know you do, too. Thanks, Tom!

Mom used to tell us "the truth only hurts when it's supposed to"....her version of "trust but verify"

And you realize, of course, that Mom was always right! Thanks, John, for reminding me of this.

We are both truth-seekers, yet we are pulled by sources we deem more truthful from our perspective. For example, VAERS reports do not seem to be taken seriously by many people, but anecdotal evidence is the basis from which evidence begins to grow. For me, there are many subtle changes happening in society which go against my "common sense" feelings. I'm not even religious and yet I feel like I know evil when I see and feel it. Good poem, Milt.
