Truth Be Told

I watched you break down today.
I sat there-
Listening.
With no words to say.

I wanted to express
The sympathy
I felt for you, my love,
But I couldn't find the words to address.

I wanted to cry.
To hold you-
Convince you it'll be ok.
But, I couldn't bring myself to lie.

Not to that tear-drenched face.
Not to that broken heart.
Not to that bereaved soul.

So there I sat.

Frozen in time.
Frozen in place.
