Trusting Eyes

Scuttled in a sea of tears, dreams drown, yet you can't stop the tears trickling down. And wear a smile, concealing those tears behind a fake mask that hides your fears. A broken heart dreams of magic wings to flee from the shame rejection brings. Yet, unrequited love tastes sublime; if only for a moment in time. You feel bewildered, as a caged dove, confronting a future without love. And reality's held with less grip, falling away, as Hope starts to slip. Love slid blindfolds over trusting eyes; hiding the truth behind veils of lies. And faith fuels frustration of late, adding its weight to the hand of fate. You cringe on the fringes of disdain, alone and abandoned to your pain. Yet as time takes the hurting away, heartaches fade; though fantasies stay.

Another well written gem Emile, loved every line, every word, it's true the heartache remains even as memory fades, well said dear poet!
