Trumpet Lilies
Almost a year ago today
the trumpet lilies played
a melody in June's masquerade.
A cluster formed within a hidden circle
deep orange, whites, yellows, crimson pirate reds,
silent, still, amidst the waterfall gurgle
with only a hint of the color stain purple bled.
Renewed and winter sheltered
blooms return after a spring storm flood
and the start of summer humid swelter
welcome the days of new blossom and bud.
A palette of tall enticing risings
calls to hummingbird and butterfly
of nature's bounty in beauty surprising.
