True Warmth

Please don't mistake a smile for warmth, it's not
Behind the surgeon's smile sure lurks a knife
That pal at work you hang out with a lot
Will cut your heart out, ruin your very life

When young, we think we have a million friends
We laugh, we play, we think that life is great
Though really they pursue their selfish ends
So easy for their love to turn to hate

True warmth won't turn you out in winter's cold
It cooks a hearty meal for you at night
It also will take care of you when old
It sympathizes with your every plight

Look past that smile, my friend, and see the heart
~ The best advice to you I can impart

Every word, every line is so true - warmth is love and love is warmth, where else could we find this warmth except with a loving partner. Beautiful Gershon Hugs, Jenny.

You never cease to surprise me, Wolf. Limerick, footle, monorhyme, crystalline, epigram. Now the sonnet which is so lovely both technically and aesthetically. You're kinda wolf in sheep's clothing, aren't you?)

"True warmth won't turn you out in winter's cold It cooks a hearty meal for you at night It also will take care of you when old It sympathizes with your every plight" If ever Greg Barden has another contest looking for a stanza that can stand on its own...this is it! I loved your poem Gershon! xxoo

Wow! Gershon, What sage advice. True friends are hide to find. I agree with the message in this. The last two lines summed it all up perfectly. Have a great weekend my friend:-) Alexis

Gershon, Look past the smile and the selfish heart. If the angels are watching you will be found out. Never attempt that. -Richard

Ann, I flunked the three times fast test you gave me. Frankly, I flunked the one time fast test. Next up: Urine test. Hope I don't flunk that one too! LOL. Thank you so much for your kind words. Best wishes, Gershon
