True Love Waits

Vows sworn for a sacred true commitment, lust has become trust lost in just two weeks- I’m living my days in pure resentment, I'm no longer able to think or speak. Our sanctioned safeguard torn from your appeal, your foul hunger left you starving for more- My passion and honor could you not feel? Infidelity and bankrupt; so poor. This betrayal has ripped my loyal soul, broken pieces of glass instead of hope- Who is this crude woman who makes you whole? My intuition lacked a microscope. Your deceit created a breach of trust- Because you couldn’t control your filthy lust. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You begged on bent knee for my pardon, promised me to be faithful one more time- But my soft heart has begun to harden, can I picture us in bed at nighttime? My forgiveness can only be given, if honest love awaits in your future- It’s a tough situation to live in, but you’ve always been my sewn-on suture. I needed you in our youthful sweet dreams, I need you now if a promise you give assurance to warrant my self-esteem, because without you, love, I cannot live. Absolution with compassion is sworn- If promised loyalty without forlorn. True Love Waits - 2 English Sonnets - Poetry Contest Sponsor: Phillip Garcia Date Written: September 19, 2016

very good poems overall but one or two thoughts. "Infidelity and bankrupt; so poor" doesn't quite read right to me. Also the couplet ending the first poem, I would replace "because" with "as." Again, the last line could read "If promised loyalty is not forlorn."

"But my soft heart has begun to harden" I love this line as it's so difficult to trust again once trust has been broken. "A Fav."
