True Love Waits
It’s sad, truly heartbreaking,
how some souls can break a person,
and never feel them aching.
For all the hope they’re taking,
they make sure to leave some behind.
I saw it coming miles away,
but yes for her, I’m blind.
What she never understood,
perhaps she never could,
is that she didn’t need to fear,
by here side I always stood.
For her sins are God’s to judge.
I just needed trust.
As lies are poison, truth a must,
if you ever love somebody,
don’t choose to hurt.
Don’t choose to wait.
Don’t choose the pain.
Trust that it gets better,
through sun and rain.
Don’t run away,
don’t make mistakes,
never too late,
before you miss a lifetime,
that God can’t fix.
I’m only human, she should know,
I carried all I can, I’ve had to let it go.
I’ve been there for her, I was on my own,
I was young and foolish, she didn’t see me grown.
Though I try to comprehend,
answer questions and truths to bend,
it really is just clear,
she doesn’t love me back,
that’s the end.
For what I missed or lacked,
the bad and flaws I had,
it had always been a fact,
that for her I’d fallen mad.
You never choose who you love.
