True Love

True love is when you don’t look at your wife’s past. But you envision the future, trying to make the relationship last. It is when you fight and sometimes cut the string between you, the rope. But always come back to each other and never lose hope. True love is when your spouse doesn’t talk to you for a day. They were angry yesterday and had too much to say. But when morning dawns you realise you can’t live without your love. That one day of silence feels the same as having food but choosing to starve. True love is when you choose to listen to your wife. Not necessarily because she knows too much but because she is your life. And if “your life” is sad, then you will spend the day in a bad mood. Listen to me all husbands, love a woman as you should. True love is when you say sorry for making your wife cry. And she doesn’t know why you repay her love with sorrow. She keeps asking why. But say a sincere apology and soon your wife tears will turn into tears of gladness. And you will both laugh afterwards about that past moment of madness. True love is when you choose to forgive even if it would hurt. Because God is love and he says we should, forgive your wife, it’s never too late. True love is when you look at your wife, and love her afresh from the start. After you read this poem, please my brother, go and mend her broken heart.
