True Love

How many people on this planet may
be able to declare they’ve known true love?
I do not mean the kind that goes away
when things get bad because there’s plenty of
that kind of love! It’s often based on lust,
for give it time. . . the sparkle it would show
soon tarnishes and then it turns to rust.
Hollywood romances. At first they glow!
You see them in the headlines. Do not think
to envy them! So few of them survive.
Regard the couples who when on the brink
of chaos still stay strong! Learn how they thrive!
Through good times and through bad you will know bliss
if you can say you’ve tasted true love’s kiss.

Hi Andrea, What a well written Sonnet you have penned. I agree, true love will endure life’s challenges. It is more than lust for sure, lust will fade eventually. Congratulations on your win. Have a wonderful weekend:-) Alexis

It would be my observation that to taste true loves kiss, you must first give it. Wonderful wisdom in this poem.

A wise look at what true love means Andrea. Those who have had the longest lasting relationships know the secrets of true love. A wonderful entry Andrea. xxoo

So true dear Andrea, a couple who goes through hard times and come out at the end with a stronger love for one another are winners. It saddens me when a small hiccup breaks them up, or big one for that matter and they divorce, a cowardly act. Lovely write Andrea, I enjoyed it so very much. Blessing and hugs, Jennifer.

We took a similar approach to the theme. Lasting love is different from pure passion. Beautifully penned! Best wishes in Brenda's contest. Hugs, Carolyn

Andrea, Yes, and yes, so nice when two hearts strike the same chord and learn to dance. Even better when they forget that they used to soar, and still find a second chance. -Richard
