True Friends

A friend is a mirror into my soul
Someone I can tell my dreams
Never judgmental advice always gentle
No matter how awful it seems

A friend is my refuge, my hiding place
Someone who knows all my pain
When all else fails our friendship excels
They listen, when I need to complain

A true friend is so hard to come by
Like trust, they have to be earned
They'll stand by your side and act as your guide
Through lessons that have to be learned

A friend can feel your broken heart
And do their best to console
They'll always be there to show you they care
When things get out of control

A friend keeps all of your secrets
That's hidden down deep in your heart
They'll give more than they take with the sacrifice they make
For true friends are never far apart
