Troops In the Sky

When it’s time for me to go into the ground
I don’t want you to make a weeping sound
I have lived my life alive and free
Protecting this land, our country
If you could grant me this last request
I will happily lay at rest

There were many men before me
That gave their life for this country
I am with them now don’t you know
The troops are reunited in heavens glow
They have welcomed me with open arms
Men from the city and men from the farms

To my family I wish you well
Please do not dwell
This is my path that I must travel
I don’t want you to unravel
Raise our children the best you can
I will be waiting for you with open hands

So go to sleep now and do not cry
I already heard you say goodbye
I know you will miss me now and then
I will check on you to see how you’ve been
God protects us till it’s time to say goodbye
Because of his troops in the sky
