Notes About The Poem
This poem is dedicated to all the single mothers out there, young or old . Because they are my heroes.

Triumphed Through the Rubble

I watched your young life from afar,
folk in town said you wouldn’t go far.

You became with child, the dad left
from then on it was baby and self

Your life was a constant struggle
you triumphed through the rubble

Went back to school and got a degree
Your first major was psychology

You are now married with great career
you are my hero, and bff of the year

This was beautiful Alexis and such an encouraging piece. These people who continue to fight regardless of the detours they find along the way should be considered heroes. Your poem says this wonderfully.

Your bff is fortunate to have you as a friend. Nicely written, Alexis.
