Tripped Up
Things take us from what is important, easily.
Distractions of life, responsibilities we deem high on the list.
Missed promises, forgotten details, getting older now.
Things have less importance, and time has new meaning.
Say hello to those that matter,
Good-by to those that never cared.
Tell God, you love him, even when you forget to pray.
Tell the Lord “HE” is still everything worth remembering.
Our days run into each other.
Soon, blurred into a long line at the store.
Thinking that a list could solve a lot of stress,
but there is never paper to make one.
Pens, are always out of ink or lost.
Our friends grow further away, life demands it.
Our loved ones have no time, the same.
We… are left… waiting…
Setting new goals on our knees, recently replaced.
Rising to meet the challenge with hips that are made of metal now.
The timer on the heart, fixed and adjusted.
A second wind, since smoking has stopped.
A second wind, since praying at all…
Still time to make a fool of myself.
Still time to…
