Triolet On Reading Between the Lines

Imagination reads between the lines And there finds the secret fantasies The coded meanings, hidden signs, Imagination reads between the lines, Discovers the message that maligns Often writers’ concealed anomalies, Imagination reads between the lines And there finds the secret fantasies.

I love this little poetic form, L M. I've only written two triolets but hope to produce more in time. And I think some of the best writing is accomplished "between the lines".

Subtle hints that there are underlying thoughts within a poet's creation. That's the mark of a great poet. Imagination is one of the poet's sharpest tools.

Thank you for your insightful comment, Jenna. Yes, imagination is one of the poet's sharpest tools, and, I believe it is essential to good writing.

Me, too, Caren. I think this is why reading and re-reading is so important.
