Tribute To Hurricane Katrina

Today marks a decade For Hurricane Katrina Alot of people Lost everything Let me explain to you what I mean a No one could ever forget that day It was hard To sit and watch what was being displayed Once a whole state Now it was torn Water everywhere How could we reform Something's people worked for all their life Was floating away in the twinkle of an eye People were crying and dying Did we offer help Or did we only think about self To be united as one And had to depart Leave your families behind And somehow restart Spreaded across the states No longer a state If it didn't teach you anything It taught you how to appreciate Life is precious Life is short That's what I felt It was more than a nation that needed our help Children didn't know what was going on Parents somehow trying to remain strong A day that was longed A lost in the city Lets stand together They didn't need pity Having to restart your whole life Was it fair Maybe not in your plan But God did spare I salute you all for not letting this storm Stop you from reaching the top The power of a community Was clear We lost over 1800 people my dear Things are getting better Building it back one day at a time In the end know that we all will be fine A mark that day left That we shall never forget It hurts still I know You are precious plants You've bloomed continue to grow Although things could never go back to being the same Know that we are here You guys are courageous You guys let go of your fears You guys have made for these years And now a moment of silence For those who didn't have a chance Whose life ended in the storm This moment is for you Your legacy will live on Because you represent the truth Life can be given And also be taken But the legacy you gave us will never be mistaken Your whole identity may have felt gone But to my fellow survivors know that you are not alone This nation will keep you uplifted in prayer And if you look over each shoulder Know that we are there Whether you need a shoulder to cry Or just let out one big sigh Look no further Do not weep We will get through this We are making it as we speak 10 years have passed And you are stronger than ever Shows that you can make it through any kind of weather To those who lost love ones along the way Know that they are in your hearts And although hard to believe there will be brighter days They say the grass will always be greener Lets continue to grow as a nation This is my tribute To the Hurricane Katrina Written By:Concetta Hardnett 8/29/2015
