once
   ever green 
then
  autumn gold 
bedecked 
stark
now 
    in silhouette
aged
gnarled 
   root
laid bare 

mistletoed
 in winter
 frieze
still
   blankets 
me

Brian, this is a fantastic poem about time and nature's cycle from vibrancy to slumber. It shows how life changes from "evergreen" to "mistletoed in winter," reflecting age and persistence.
