Tree Huger
And so the pagans burned
by Mathew Hopkins command
the witch finder general
put to the stake the midwives
along with everything they had learned
See her
tree huger
in modern parlance
if ridicule could be more verbal
then laugh it off for the crazy girl
Yet still by a stake and fire
‘twould better the arrogance
and all denial with explanations of science
would afford contemptuous
and make our gesture the affirmation
of piteous
See her
tree huger
probably does that demons dance
called yoga
late at night and by the moonlight
lets the madness take her
“ It is a sad affair, we must learn again to understand,
how to feel with our hearts and not judge with our minds
and reconnect to the miracles of the divine ” Tree Huger
Don’t listen to her
there is no worth in wood
other than from it to fashion what we would
no sentience present
devoid of any equal intelligence
No emotive force
no soul or spirit
occupies commodity
no intricate creation
no chemical complexity
no life force
no energy
The word is
tree
Better scorned
and mayhap upon one time burned
for the presumptions of iniquity
and by irony chained and nailed
to the severed limbs of a tree
Make this hypocrisy of the air we breathe
and has to place midst this finest technology
and by books
by religion
by splitting the atom
for all its promulgation
cannot reproduce
the leaf
See her
tree huger
in this patronized joke
let all her cohorts meander
we know better
we are clever
a billion dollars is worth more
than six hundred billion suns
and you can calculate the number of leaves
by counting the number of trees
