Tree Cycles

roots reach into earth's
deep moist darkness a
place of their birth
and find nutrients given by spring
to grow a yearly ring
a windy day will sing as
 limbs dance with
a breeze
warm bursts of air
partner with green leaves
as they twirl
and swirl
under a sun
who smiled at each one
from birth of a bud to
leave colors and the fall
 back to earth
on ground
more lay and wait for
nature’s transformation

dry leaves crumble and break
to make
rich dark soil and nutrients
