Treason of the Heart

Treason Of the Heart
------------------------

True to myself, I have not been
there's just a void if you look within
A soul that is empty, lacking its shine
walls like a prison, my heart is confined.

If you were honest, how would I know
I shut people out, a long time ago
what's the words trust, it's been too long
I don't have room in my heart, so it doesn't belong.

I've been a doormat, used to the core
for way too long, but not anymore
the walls that I built, they're there for a reason
incase I fall in love, my heart commits treason.

I am glad you clarified that!!!! From all I have read, I see a beautiful person who would be welcome on my doormat ( front door ) not a doormat at all!!! I loved the title to this one!!!!

Thank you Arthur, you are always so kind to me. Yes I am sure we have all be here sometime in our lives, but that hasn't been that way for me in a very long time, and I am thankful to have met my hubby 12 years ago. Take care my friend, and I am happy you enjoyed this piece. Jess :)
