Trapped in the Crowd

Have you ever noticed? Noticed when everything changed When all the sudden Everyone has something to say Everyone but you.. We all know everyone has changed That's a part of growing up But when did it start When did we all start caring about what people had to say Cared about what thought What they thought on your life Your decisions Your choices Making your path for you Slowly but surely Closing all the doors you had open All the windows Anyway you could possible get out It's easy to say just don't listen to them But it's hard to do Its hard when they have control on your life Really you know you can make your own decision But all you want is to be liked To be wanted by someone One day things will change again Again for the better Or worst But we won't know Know until that time comes The time when everything changes again.

Raeghan, I saw a comment you left on one of Silent One's poems. BTW, he being a spectacular poet here. Seems to me my own sense of what peers were thinking started strangely when I had to get up in front of a class and speak...I think it was in middle school. For some of us, it takes a long time to become confident, which comes from introspection and consideration of what we are all about. Not easy. I always was surprised that some seemed to know what their life trajectory would be. Not me, but I would not change a thing now. Anyhow, welcome to this community. There are some interesting ideas to ponder but they always seem to generate smiles!

Absolutely! Throughout my pageant journey, I have become increasingly confident over time. I also love the Silent One! They are such a good poet! Thank you for the kind words; I hope you enjoyed my poem. I also hope you'll find time to read my other works! Best regards, R.S.

Your poem offers a deeply relatable meditation on change, identity, and societal pressures. Its conversational style and open-ended reflection invite readers to engage with their own experiences and uncertainties. It’s a poignant reminder of the struggle to find balance between external expectations and personal growth, leaving a lasting impression.
