Poets stumble over half written sonnets find themselves trapped in dark poetic throes Not for the lack of interest, but they often wilt as petals wither on the stem of a plucked rose Their Haiku go on hiatus; lingering on vacation Romantic writings drag on without decent rhyme They are not procrastinators, but often tumble down a mountain side they cannot seem to climb Writing sharpens the points of dulled memories black ink is splotched by an onslaught of tears eyes blur as their hands tremble from sorrow pens draw deep scars across hearts like shears Long held melodies keep playing across their minds unfinished lyrics that lay resting in regions of nether tunes haunting them until tears rain and lips quiver Impossible to complete when shackled by love's tether

Your poem is excellent in talking about poetry and real life relationships, Lin:) deserves more than a 7:) There have been times when I felt irritated not being able to write, now I just let the words come when the Lord gives them:) those half-written poems, I never thought others had them too, I've got plenty:(

I'm afraid it's a writer's bane, Jo. I'm returning to them now that the fog has cleared...it's only taken years for some of them. You're not alone in having a portfolio of half-dressed mannequins. Thanks for all your support with visits and comments. ;-)

Sometimes, when our heart is completely immersed with love it is hard to get those words out because there s so much we want to say and express. But they will appear and what a wonderful vision when they do. My first thought was what a beautiful way to describe writer's block but maybe it is a bit more than that...I think it is. :)

I've never had writer's block, Chris, but in the past, or so I thought, sometimes it was too difficult to place the words on paper...it made the sadness more real. My early entries on PS reflects that difficult time. But those darn unbidden memories still persist, when we shared everything and the world was ours for the taking. Thank you for your insight and comments.

Finish them, Jan. Half written poems are so sad. I still have many, too.
