Transient Love

I love you and I know to fear it’s true, Despite everything that points to safer avenues, I love you, and I hate that I love you, For loving you is to feel, the displeasure Of our pleasure together, an imminent end, Looming like darkening weather. Our agreement was struck, That we would indulge, firm grip on reality, Yet I think of you too often, and pluck, The forbidden fruit of intimacy, Entertaining a dangerously vivid fantasy, But I am lovelorn and you are love wary. Discovering pieces of you, has shown me, That I’m no good at letting people go, No longer okay with being strong, Weekends between the sheets makes me weak, I know it’s wrong but... All this time together is tearing me apart, I can’t hold on forever but I hold you in my heart.
