Transient Eternity
Spinning, wheeling, turning,
a streak of light across the universe.
My soul, my spirit, all that I am,
gone in a brief flash
here in this place, this earth,
but everlasting in the cosmos.
Searching, reaching, touching,
my soul, my spirit,
all that I am, winds itself,
binds itself around your soul,
your spirit, all that you are,
a steady beacon, an endless column of light.
I am a sparkling ice crystal
reflecting the beauty of your comet self,
the tinkling sound of glass
shattering in the cold,
a lower note, not lesser,
harmony to your rich symphony.
From galaxy to galaxy we whirl and turn
leaving in our wake a melody of light,
of love immortal to those who scan the skies;
eternal in its perpetual newness,
yet all too brief for us,
forever is not enough time to love you.
