Transgender Is Not a Fad Or a Phase

Transgender is a real thing
Not a fad
Not a phase
Not a quirky attention-seeking ploy

Transgender children are sad
They want to be who they are
The wisest parents understand
If Johnny wants to be called Julie and wear dresses – okay.

Because Johnny is not Johnny inside, she is Julie.
If all transgendered children were treated with love and respect
If all parents of transgendered children understood this 
It would be enough to change the world.

Transgender is a real thing
Not a fad
Not a phase
Not a quirky attention-seeking ploy

Please love your children for who they are
Please respect your children 
Even if their ideas are different than mine?
Especially if their ideas are different than yours.

Ilene Bauer June 30, 2020 at 6:43 PM i can't imagine the agony of someone who feels that he/she is in the wrong body but i do understand how hard that must be to accept. still, your last verse says it all - we have to love and respect our children in every way - including those ways that differ from our expectations... Caren Krutsinger July 2, 2020 at 2:09 AM I have met children who were so completely the other sex at four or six that I am convinced they reincarnated too soon, and are fully relating to their last lifetime here. One child kept running to the boys' side no matter what game we played if I said boys against girls. The teacher asked me about "her" being on the boy's side, and I said he could choose any side he wanted; he was seven.
