Quatern

A Quatern is a sixteen-line French form composed of four quatrains. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two third line of stanza three and fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line.

Music touches the human soul, conveying emotions through sound. Vibes penetrate the subconscious, fueling fragmented feelings. As bodies sway to the rhythm, music touches the human soul. And we dance, experiencing a high only it can provide. It can be like a tranquil sea or a wave, loud and expressive. Music touches the human soul, transcending talent and technique. Sharps and flats have a unique voice, in its universal language. With every chord, clef, key, and note, music touches the human soul.

I am not in the least bit musical, and yet, I lean into it, learn from it, love it, and have to have it as surely as air. Your quatern reminds me of a part of my soul I often forget to honor, Emile.
