Tranquility
Seeking a night of solitude
Tranquility is what was found,
While hiking deep into the Cascades
With no one else around.
Came upon a waterfall
On a river the glaciers fed
Standing naked beneath the water's spray,
I washed away my dread.
My solitude was interrupted
By another hiker on the trail,
She asked if she could join me,
I shyly replied, "Sure, what the hell".
With our backpacks and clothes left in the meadow
We swam together in the cold pool;
I somehow knew, then and there,
Seeking solitude was the quest of a fool.
I found a semblance of tranquility
Kissing the softness of her inner thighs;
Tranquility, thy name is found
In the depth of her sky blue eyes.
Tranquil was that night,
Sleeping underneath the stars,
Serenated by the cacophony
Of splashing water from the falls.
Solitude is not a requirement
For tranquility to be earned,
Is the lesson cloaked in the moon shadow that night
That this grateful boy did learn.
We hiked out of the forest together
With our solitude left far behind;
In the presence of one other
Tranquility we did find.
