Traits

Fate held, unkind to breast amnesty's heart, thine to rest tomorrow, unknown chattel hope, stands alone in battle forgiveness, yours from love's ladle, pours another stolen day, borrows eyes keen, our tomorrows

This short poem has explosive words which make the poem about traits potent and powerful' Another stolen day, borrow eyes keen, our tomorrows' - so well penned! I have missed your commenting Richard, and hope that at some time you will read a few of my poems. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer. Jennifer.

Sara, Thank you for this comment. I searched my memory for recognition of you and your poetry, though it's failed me time and again. Never mind that. Your wonderful poem 'the worker', with the heartbreaking epilogue left me wrung out like a dish rag. Grand children are a gift that waits far beyond the horizon of our youth. You know this more than most. I will say a prayer for your Grandson. -Richard

Hello Anne-Lise, Thanks, though I must admit, I had to try it on to make sure that it fit. Yes, I've been lurking more, participating less. I'm still getting used to the new mask I must wear. I already have so many others. -Richard

I like the contrasts here, like 'hope/battle' and 'stolen/borrows' - very intriguing -

Hello Michelle, Thank you for this comment. I hope it's not impolite to say. But your name has a special place in my lexicon of life. Many poems I've written with that name waiting just beyond my lips. -Richard
