Notes About The Poem

          TRAINED BY THE TRANE

(Apropos Of A Freestyle-Tanka Coltrane Eulogy)

     Was Once Kind Of Blue;

     Then, I Took Giant Steps:

Found A Love Supreme:-

Went Down To Alabama:

Labored In Labors Of Love:-

In Resolution,

Divine Wisdom And Guidance,

God Called Me To Serve:-

Today, I Soul Trane Daily:

Been Teaching 53 years:-

You Can’t Stop Teaching

Divine Wisdom And Guidance:

It’s Just Like Preaching!

Trane’s Sax, Made Sure It Would Be:

With Me, It’s With Poetry:-

Sitting Here, Engrossed

In [This] Sentimental Mood,

Has Been A Long Time:-

I’m Now Over 83;

Been Traneing for 70:-

Trane’s Musical Psalms,

Continue To Uplift me,

With Divine Wisdom:

Nourishing My Energy

In Love’s Labors Of Duty:-
