Traffic

My sadness is a blind worm
Digging and going forward
Onward and downward
Toward an imagined light
To see

Thought is weak, a leaky bucket
My heart is heavy, my eyes are bloody
I smile to a world that does not care
Or even notice that I am dying
To be seen

Clear skies, the stars are gone
Sudden clouds are a grin, mocking me
My head is spinning from looking up
And going around in circles; there’s nothing
To see

Words are traffic signs on the
Highway of my soul; stop ‘n go
Life’s a dead end, a one way street
Tires screech, here I stop, hoping
To be seen
