Trading Shoes

He's gone, Put away You never knew it would happen to someone close to you I can't relate But I imagine the miles walked in your shoes She left and never came back Left for someone else to raise you The hole in your heart feels both love and hate No, I can't relate But I imagine the miles walked in your shoes You fell in love and thought he loved you Menstral flow a few weeks late Months later, left you and the baby too No, I can't relate But I can imagine the miles walked in your shoes Bills due Stress is high Nothing left but a prayer and faith Yes, I can relate Can you imagine the miles walked in my shoes Waking up everyday Trying to hide the pain That shows all over you Yes, I can relate Can you imagine the miles walked in my shoes Others blinded by the smile given by you Rendering lies to hide the truth When you and God knows exactly what you're going through Yes, I can relate Can you imagine the miles walked in my shoes

Monique, I agree with Sharon regarding the nice twist in the last two lines of each verse. I hope things are going better for you. I could feel your pain in this sad but moving poem! Carolyn

Sounds like hard times. Well expressed, the twist on the repetition worked extremely well. Good luck. Love, Shar
